Just a 14-minute stroll from our hotel in Oxford, you’ll stumble across the beautiful Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum.
As you step into the gardens, it feels as if you’ve been teleported out of the city and into the countryside. The diverse plant life and beautifully arranged grounds offer endless photographic opportunities, making it a must-visit for anyone with a camera (or phone).
Get lost walking through the wildflower meadow, discovering different angles and close-ups of the flowers there. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a stunning close-up shot of a bee dancing on a flower?

Magdalen Bridge Boathouse
Nestled along the serene River Cherwell, Magdalen Bridge Boathouse is famed for its vibrant array of punts. Whether you’re on the water or observing from the bridge, the scene is a feast for the eyes and the camera.
If punting isn’t quite your cup of tea, find a prime spot atop the bridge to capture stunning shots of the colourful punts. For an even more picturesque angle, we recommend heading down to the water’s edge, where you can snap the perfect shot of the punts arrayed in a colourful line along the riverbank.
If you are a fan of boat rides, gliding down the River Cherwell offers a treasure trove of photo opportunities. As you drift along, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the river and its lush surroundings.

No photographic tour of Oxford would be complete without a visit to the Oxford Bridge of Sighs.
Officially known as the Hertford Bridge, it’s a favourite among photographers due to its distinctive characteristics and romantic stories associated with it.
To best capture the bridge, we recommend going in the early morning or late evening – the lighting is magical and hits the bridge perfectly.

Christ Church’s Gardens and Meadow

The gardens are especially beautiful in spring and summer when the vibrant flowers are blooming away.
Fun fact: This magical outdoor space also holds the door to the Deanery Garden, which inspired Alice in Wonderland. Alice was the Dean’s daughter, and the Cathedral Garden was the one she was not allowed in. You can even see the Cheshire Cat’s horse chestnut tree.
